It's so true, we are all "shopping our closets" we might as well shop our old rolodexes too! Good one!

Hahahaha love the magazine spreads. Do those magazines think we're idiots? I actually read something advising me to sew together old ties to make a skirt.

BRILLIANT allusion to the tacky Vogue India spread, did you see this on it? http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/01/business/worldbusiness/01vogue.html?_r=1&no_interstitial

If I start sewing aluminum foil on my clothes somebody please shoot me. I swear you can't read ANYTHING right now that doesn't talk about "recessionista style" or "frugal fashion." blech. just stop buying stuff and stop worrying so much about what you wear. and start wearing lampshades. HA.

That's a crazy story from Vogue India...how misguided. Great comic!

Hilarious. The image of the chic in the lampshade is priceless.

Yikes. I think I've been guilty of shopping my garbage disposal. And this was before shopping your closet was en vogue!

Um. This was me last weekend. I wasn't wearing a paper bag but that is only because I didn't think of it. It's impossible right now not to try to think of creative ways to make things "new" but they somehow all feel sort of foolish when all is said or done. Like, I clasped these broaches onto shoes because I read about that in a magazine and I thought I was all styling. But then I'm walking around the city and I feel like everyone is staring at me thinking, "christ, that chick's got broaches on her shoes." You know?

Ha, this is a good one. I am not wearing plastic bags yet but I walked into Claire's the other day for the first time since high school. Sad.

Huh? said...

Anonomous poster: Do you mean girls who are half naked in plastic bags?

What is she making out of those lipsticks?? (This is so sad but I would love to know what I could do with all the ends of lipsticks I have).
