Two empowering new voices for all our little Brown Girls to emulate:

Check out Saturday Night Live's Amy Poehler's new webshow "Smart Girls At the Party," which "celebrates girls who are changing the world just by being themselves":

And take a peek at www.onebrowngirl.com for more pro-social messages for little girls everwhere. Plus some cool t-shirts.

Have a great weekend!

Just went through the One Brown Girl site--it's an amazing mission! Great for my daughter, too.

Love the idea of Smart Girls. Kind of thought it would be tons funnier though. They need a guest spot from Tina Fey!

is no one else bothered by the fact that this is sponsored by barbie? i loved the segment but found it absurd that i had to watch a commercial for barbie before, after and during a show called "smart girls at the party,"centered around feminism. what's my favorite barbie moment? when i used to color her face with a brown marker and dye her hair with food coloring trying to make her look more like me.

I was thinking the same thing! At first I thought it was an ironic thing--haha, look Barbie is sponsoring Smart Girls. But I don't think it is. Very weird. Do they have "Indian Barbie" yet???
